This is my first attempt at a session report. 2 player game w/ expansion, I played the shadow:
As the fellowship set out from Rivendell, Saruman quickly showed his colors and mustered a great host and the Balrog rose in Moria. The elves responded by immediately gearing up for war (FSP rolled lots of muster dice on the first two turns). Saruman's Uruks and Wolf Riders poured across the Fords of Isen in mass and the Rohirim retreated to Helm's deep with Saruman's horde in close pursuit. An amazingly heroic stand at Helm's deep checked Saruman for a while (amazing dice rolls from the FSP repulsed the first seige), but after a pause to reinforce with the Hillmen of Dunlend Saruman succeeded in overcoming the weakened defenders in a second assault. The survivors of the siege of Helm's Deep quickly overran the rest of Rohan, driving the remnants of the horse people across the border into neutral Gondor (Rohan only managed 2 musters before all settlements were captured). Thus ended the saga of the Rohirrim.
The fellowship was hounded by the forces of the dark lord, making Moria too dangerous of an option to consider, so the ringbearers chose the path thru the High Pass. Meanwhile, a large force had mustered in Mordor and began marching north from Morannon. While they initially appeared to have designs on Dale and the Woodland Realm, they quickly changed direction and headed straight for Lorien. Lady Galadriel began mustering the defense of Lorien as the Mordor Horde closed in and besieged the Golden Wood. However, the elves had mustered a sizable defense force (1/4/1 + Galadriel) and the orcs declined to assault the stronghold content to bottle up the bulk of the elven forces. Realizing the rising danger to the free peoples of Middle Earth, Gimli and Aragorn bade farewell to the rest of the fellowship and made good speed to Dale to rouse the men of the north and the dwarves to war (There and Back Again). The men of the north quickly began mustering a defense of Dale while Saruman consolidated his defense of Orthanc against the potential threat of the Ents (which never materialized as the Ent cards were not drawn till the last turn).
In the west Shadows Fall on the Misty Mountains as the evil presence in Moria swelled and Monsters Roused to the west of Rivendell. With the bulk of the elves bottled up in Lorien, these foul creatures marched on Rivendell and quickly overran the home of Elrond (5VP Shadow).
The fellowship, seeing the shadow fall over Lorien, made for the Old Forest Road fearing that rest in the Golden Wood was no longer an option. They considered a detour into the Woodland Realm, but decided speed was called for and as soon as the cleared the forest turned due south for Mordor (5 corruption).
In the west the orc army in Rivendell began marching west and were joined by reinforcements from Angmar as well as Olog-Hai swelling their ranks. As they neared the North Downs the shadow army was assaulted by the Rangers of the North, but the Rangers were quickly overcome and Bree soon fell. The shadow soon lengthened as the orcs overran the Shire and closed in on the Gray Havens. Once again, the bulk of the elven forces being locked down in Lorien was felt as the shadow army closed in on the meager elven defenders. In a desperate and close seige, the elves finally succumbed to the might of the shadow after inflicting heavy damage, but alas the entire west was lost (8VP Shadow).
The fellowship's approach to Morannon was hounded by the Witch King and his Nazgul, but with the protection of the companions of the fellowship the ringbearers made it without further incident regardless of the foul weather that set upon them (1 companion lost and a few event cards left the fellowship at 5 corruption).
Sensing victory as well as the pressure of the approaching ring, Sauron mobilized his forces that had been slowly building up in Dol Guldur who marched towards the Woodland Realm. The men of Dale moved to reinforce the elves, leaving only a token force to guard the city. In Mordor the fellowship raced madly for Mount Doom. The last of the companions fell protecting the ringbearers, but Gandalf rose in Fangorn as The White as Gollum took over as the guide.
Both sides knew that the end was near. Sauron, seeing the strong combined defense of men and elves in the Woodland Realm detoured to the east easily overruning Dale (9VP) and assaulting the Dwarven stronghold of Erebor. The Nazgul with the orc army opened the battle with Dreadful Spells that took their toll on the Dwarves. The Dwarves, with only minimal defenses (3/1/1 plus Gimli) after the horrid spells of the Nazgul, showed their toughness as they held strong and repulsed the attack of the orcs from Dol Guldur. As the ring approached Mt Doom, Sauron finally launched a desperation assault against the long besieged Lorien. Once again a valiant defense held strong, decimating the orc horde as the assault faltered.
As the fellowship made a last dash towards Mt Doom, Gollum tried to snatch the ring as he cried "Give it to Usss!". Frodo used his Mitrhil and Sting to fight his way past Gollum's challenge. On the slopes of the Mountain itself Gollum once again appeared crying "Give it to Usss!" halting the ringbearers within sight of the prize (7 corruption but no dice left!). Knowing he would only have one last chance at victory, Sauron ordered the remnants of the assault on Erebor to try again to breach the dwarf halls. In a desperate last minute battle the orcs managed to regroup and rout the beleaguered dwarves as they flooded through the stronghold killing all in their path.
In a stunning 11th hour victory, the will of the west crumbled as the dark shadow of Mordor settled over the land...
[ This great game had a very dramatic ending as the fortunes swung back and forth rapidly on the last 2 turns. Astounding dice rolls by the FSP in defense of Erebor and Lorien staved off the shadow victory for a turn while the ring raced for a dunk. However, the shadow player responded with incredibly lucky draws from the hunt pool stopping the ring in it's tracks including back to back "Give it to Usss!" shadow special tile draws (one countered by Mithril Coat and Sting) on the last turn. These miraculous tile draws gave the shadow one last chance to try a desperate final battle in Erebor where lucky dice rolls for the shadow (2 6's rolled on 3 dice) plucked victory from the jaws of defeat. ]

Mithril Coat & Sting underperform if used on any space except the last one. At least that's my bad luck with them.
