Hi all,

we finish reading the rules and had an unpack and study the rules section LOL

we are not sure how mobs and counter-attack interact

rulebook p12 wrote:
A Mob is composed of a Boss and its Minions. A Boss is the leader of a Minions’ group, sharing the same characteristics. A Minion is a henchman, the lowest Enemy type. The number of Minions in a Mob varies according to the amount of Heroes starting the game

rulebook p21 wrote:
Most Enemies roam the board as Mobs: a Boss along with its Minion escort (the whole Mob counts as one Enemy)

rulebook p36 wrote:
Even if the Attack that kills the last Minion could still deal more Wounds, those are ignored and a new Attack must be made to kill the Boss

the part that throw us off was the last part.
when we attack the mob, lets say a mob with 3 minions and the boss. we kill 2 minion; how does counterattack happens?

boss and 1 minion attack all together as the section under mob attack?
minion attack and then boss attack again?

What if you kill all minions? boss don't attack back?

the lines on p36 that make it sound like is 2 different attack got us confused, thanks and sorry if obvious.

The Mob is a single Enemy. It will attack the same way regardless of the number of Minions that remain in the Mob.

If you attack the Mob (Minions or Boss it doesn't matter) at least once during your turn and you either end your turn in the Mob's line of sight or in a Light Zone, then whatever remains of the Mob will Counter-Attack.

The rule that you quoted can be rewritten in this manner, which might make more sense to you:

When attacking a Mob, if there are any Minions at the start of the attack and the Mob is not Stunned prior to or during the attack, then you cannot assign wounds to the Boss.

ok, sweet man.
Thanks!

EDIT so it seems that the "mobs" was nothing else that CMON excuse to make more minis; it would have had the same effect by having one minion + 1 boss; and modify the health of the minion based on number of players instead of the numbers.

guess is easy to count XP with many minions vs XP with damage done

almost, but remember, that there are skills and abilities, that auto-kill one minion, regardless of its wound points....

Memoir 44 used this same device and it's honestly for aesthetics. I don't mind figures as glorified HP counters as long as they look good on the board. It does interact weirdly with the dungeon crawl genre expectation that groups of enemies usually share a turn but get individual attacks. It's hard to shake that mentality at first, but it'll gel in a couple of sessions.
