Poll
Lords of Waterdeep Best Game Ever Created or The Perfect Game ?
Best Game Ever Created
The Perfect Game

So I have been obsessing about this game for a few weeks now. I got it 3 weeks ago, but have been reading about it for awhile. From the mechanics, the flavor text, and the element of luck, I cannot think of a better game that offers as much as this game does. I still have under 100 games in my collection, but this one went to number one on my list after 3 plays. After 20+ Plays, I am still working out why I like this game so much and how to work in a play style determined by the board that is being played.

For me, the best thing about Lords is the chess-like element of predicting your opponents' moves and countering to prevent them from gaining points or ignoring them to advance your position.

The worker placement is very intuitive, and the element of luck with the different card draws adds just a pinch of luck to a fairy straight forward game of strategy.

I know I am late to the table with this game, but I just wanted to add a "Yay for this" to the conversation.

It's definitely in my Top 20, maybe Top 10.

It's amazing still in 2017 just like it was in 2012. I remember opening it and playing it for the first time and just being jaw-dropping impressed.

Now I want to play it!

I have to admit this is the game that really got me into modern board gaming as a hobby though I had played a few others including MTG but THIS game really sold me on the hobby.

I bought an Ipad (used, lets not be crazy) just for this app, I enjoyed the game so much.

I really wish I could get this to the table more.

But yes, I love this game. You should try it with expansion! Corruption REALLLLLY makes things interesting.

The app is also damn near perfect.

It is really good but not perfect. I think it is still the most played game in my household if you don't count games like Cards against Humanity or other simple card games.

LOL. Not best ever, or perfect - but really damn fun with any player count and a game I will almost always play.
It's a great balance of accessible strategy and a touch of luck.
I don't know what "perfect" is, and yes some games get played more (simply due to set up, teaching, or game play time) but LoW is definitely in my top 5.
(Macao, however, I find an excruciating unfun slog. No offense intended.)

I've had LOW for a couple years now and I have over 10 plays. I think it's a great game but it is the only game that continues to drop on my top 100. It used to be top 5 and now it's around 50 - 70. I still think it's solid I guess I just outgrew it. I do want to buy the expansion maybe that would help.

I would agree that it is one of the most perfect games out there.

It would be perfect for me if it wasn't for two subjective 'flaws':

1. I have no love for DnD (no dislike ether), so a perfect game would have a different theme.

2. The art on the Lords are not great and, less subjectively, don't match the art on quest cards or the board.

That is a picky as I can get.

Weighted at 2.5 on the geek, which I found to be a little generous, I would say that no this is not the perfect game, and a long long long ways off.

Not the best or my favorite but one of the games that really marked my entry into the hobby. Like it for the rather relaxed worker placement style. No stress of getting stuff done this particular turn like in others. Definitely my candidate for "game as comfort food".

I've played well over 500 games of LoW (mostly PvP on the app) and it has yet to get old for me. Enjoy!

For that purpose, LOW has probably been replaced by Oath of the Brotherhood. It is a bit more streamlined and doesn't require as much time or brain cells.

It's a great game, and I don't really care for D&D or fantasy. The smooth play and its suitability for casual gamers make it a great game.

It's a good game.
At the time, it was definitely ground breaking,
is it the best game? No, not even within worker placement would I consider it the best game. Some games that have come later, that I think are better:

1. Viticulture with Tuscany
2. Raiders of the North Sea
3. Champion's of Midgard with the Valhalla and Dark Mountain expansions.
