Bay Area Games Day is a daylong open gaming meetup that has been running in the San Francisco Bay Area for 20 years. Our next event is coming up on Sun. October 15 starting at 10 AM and running until 5 PM (note the early ending time!).

We meet in the program room of the main library of the South Bay city of Los Altos, which is about 15 miles west of San Jose and 40 miles south of San Francisco.

There is no fee to attend, but it's greatly appreciated if you could donate $2 to help pay for the cost of renting the room. Put your money in the red donation cup on the table between the door and the whiteboard.

We play mostly recent and classic Eurogames, the kind of games that are hot or ranked high here on BGG. But we also play many other sorts of tabletop games, including family games, Ameritrash, and wargames. Attendance is around 40-50 people, so it's easy to find players for most kinds of games. Here's a geeklist of what was played at our April 23 meetup.

We welcome newcomers to gaming, and families with kids.

Note that Games Day continues past the library's weekend closing time of 7 PM (although not this time!). If you want to get into the room after the library closes, you have to walk around to the large windows on the west side (the side facing San Antonio Rd.) and knock on the window until somebody inside the room notices and lets you in.

I plan to publicize future meetings sometimes here on BGG, and watch the forum threads. But the best way to keep up with announcements about future meetings, or contact others to plan specific games to play, is to join our Yahoo Groups mailing list. If you already have a Yahoo account or create one first, you can join the mailing list by clicking the big purple "+Join Group" button on our Yahoo Groups Web page. If you don't want to create a Yahoo account, you can still join the mailing list by sending an email to
gamesday-subscribe@yahoogroups.com.

What does this mean?

a) Games Day normally continues past 7 pm, but this month it ends at a different, unspecified time.
b) The library usually closes at 7 pm, but for this event they're closing at a different, unspecified time.

Option a.
First paragraph (specified time): ends at 5pm.
This is different than the usual time of 11pm (as can be seen in the first link to the yahoo group).

Careful reading helps!

Thanks for replying, Nathan. I forgot to put "usually" in front of "continues". This is what happens when you're posting the same announcement in 4 different places, by editing the previous version for each place because they all have different markup syntax....

Pretty soon, I intend to stop posting these announcements anywhere except the Yahoo mailing list, so if you're at all interested in attending Games Day I recommend joining the list.
