I am running a 5 player game of Ti3 on Sunday, I have never played before
I have the base game and both expansions and currently have the base game set up as I learn the rules.
What, (if any) of the expansion material should I add to the base game from the two expansions for this virgin game?. I have read lots of different stuff and want to make the experience as pleasant and exciting for everyone involved as possible without adding unneeded complexity.
What bits of the expansions should I add?
Any tips/advice are VERY welcome!
Most important i say use NEW Strategy Cards from Shattered Empire.
From Shattered Empire:
Wormhole Nexus and wormhole (if you want it)
New Strategy Cards
Can use new Tech.
New Systems and System tiles (Dont use Hope ends as shock troops dependant)
Race Specific tech.
To be honest you can skip Shards of Throne all together for first game.
Shards of Throne:
New Races (More complicated to play)
Strategy cards from this expansion
Mercenaries (Too complicated)
Race Specific Techs
Flagships (More rules to remember)

BITS FOR THE BITS GOD!
Staring in dumbfounded terror at Frans Raynor's neckbeard.
It plugs in the gap to make the 5 player galaxy evenly spaced, which will be a smoother first game.
Play with the Strategy Card set from Shattered Empire, Artifact Tokens, and both of the new units from Shards of the Throne.
Mix in both sets of objectives, but take out the Stage 1 "Control Mecatol Rex for the entire round" as it is redundant when mixed with the simpler "Control Mecatol Rex". Also take out all of the Stage 2 objectives that are worth 3 points or say "I win the game", they are all effectively impossible and just slow the game down.
Pre-Set Galaxy vs Galaxy construction is up to you. As long as your players understand that "Planets = Good", they can probably handle normal galaxy setup.
