Can someone list the companies they have acquired and any they are known to be looking to acquire? Also, how do you pronounced Asmodee?

Let's see:

They've aquired Days of Wonder and Catan brand from Mayfair directly. THey've merged with Fantasy Flight Games, and aquired F2Z Entertainment group, so Z-Man and former Filosofia Edition and whatever smaller publishers were under that umbrella. They've also purchased distributor/publishers Bergsala Enigma and Heidelberger Spielverlag, if I recall correctly. Several smaller publishers have distribution deals with Asmodee, but are not owned by Asmodee, like Pearl Games and Matagot, I think.

That should make them the largest game publisher in the world, right?

I think that honour is still with Hasbro.

Does Hasbro have them beat as a game publisher or a toy manufacturer/publisher?

As far as 'games' I think Sony has the title of the largest in revenue, but they are video games.

Here's a 2012 article about board game publishers an Day of Wonder and Fantasy Flight were 1 and 2. At least according to the article. Now Asmodee owns both of these and more.

http://bitsofboardgames.blogspot.com/2012/10/top-7-game-publ...

Here is another reference of "List of the top board game companies in the world, listed by their prominence with corporate logos when available."

NOTE: I don't know how accurate the article was/is.

Is there a difference? Hasbro has a massive mass market catalogue to pull from as well as owning Wizards of the Coast.

For example, their Gaming division revenue was $458.8 million for the first half of 2016 compared to Asmodee's 377.2 million euros for the entirety of 2016.

For the most part Asmodee hasn't made big brand acquisitions beyond Days of Wonder (Ticket to Ride and digital), Catan and FFG (which was more of a merger). Beyond that they've acquired regional distributor-publishers to build a fully international network.

Plaid Hat as well, which was acquired by Z-Man shortly before Asmodee picked them up.

What they don't own might be a shorter list.

While Matagot is indeed independent, Asmodee does own Pearl Games.

the ranker list is simply an internet voting site with no relevance to company size
