The game is honestly based on a TV series? Not the books?

Yes I know books have a very bad weight to data ratio.

The TV series is a very close adaptation of the books. Some parts from the later books are brought in earlier in the TV series. Less swearing from Avasarala and the visual horror of Eros is toned down slightly from the lovecraftian imagery of the books. As a fan of the novels I found The Expanse TV series exceeded my expectations as an adaptation.

As I understand it the game seems to be a multi-player take on Twilight Struggle. That alone has grabbed my attention regardless of which IP theme the designer uses.

Much, much less swearing... Great books, great TV adaptation and hopefully when we play this, great game too.

A company like Wizkids works with the license they can get. And in this case they got the license for the TV shows rather than the books.

Not a fan of that. Even based on the TV series I'd strongly prefer illustrations, even if just illustrations directly based on stills from the shows. "Photos" from the show cheapens the look for me.

It's not the first time I've seen this complaint about a game, but for me, I'd prefer stills than crappy artwork like in the Legendary card games. yuk

Im happy with photos from the show. BSG did just fine with the same. Why buy an IP if you arent going to use the wealth of resources that come with it.
