I recently picked up a very affordable copy of Day of Heroes, but it is the first addition.

Can I just download the current Modern rules and play this as is, or are there other updates in the second edition that I need as well?

Thanks in advance.

I found out the new version have more counters than the old one. Are those extra necessary?

No, there's just more administrative counters.

And a few more Somali militia squads. The American unit counters seem to be comparable in number and type to the 1st edition. But definitely will help playability to have the extra admin counters.

Good to know. Mostly I was worried the old counters wouldn't work with the newer rules.

I can always make/proxy additional administrative counters if they are needed in the game.
