What is the best board game based on making and managing movies. From producing to Oscars?
Is there such a thing. The closest I've come to this is The Networks but that TV.

Oooh. This isn't something I knew I wanted, but this would be something Vital Lacerda would be amazing at.

Dream Factory by Reiner Knizia is about making movies. It's OOP, but still not too difficult to find at a reasonable price. Note that I haven't actually played this game, so I don't know how good it is, but have had my eye on it for a while.

There is also Deadwood Studios USA, which is an enjoyable little game that has a free pnp version available. It's about bit actors filming scenes for a western (the players don't do any actual acting, dice and tokens are used).

There's The Producer: 1940-1944 as well, I have never played it but I'm looking forward to if I have the chance.

+1 for Dream Factory, and I would add Hollywood, which is almost the card version of Dream Factory.

Dream Factory is pretty good, though I don't know that you really feel like you are making movies - it's basically an auction/set collection game (where you are bidding on groups of actors/directors you need to complete your various movies).

I played the original version of Deadwood studios from Cheapass (when it was just called Deadwood). Like many of those old Cheapass game it had some clever ideas but wore out its welcome pretty quick - don't know what changes the newer version made.

This isn't quite in the same realm, since it's about producing plays... there's Dirk Henn's Show Manager.

I would imagine it would be difficult to track down, but there is also Cannes: Stars, Scripts and Screens.

I don't know about "best" but Bushwhackin' Varmints out of Sergio's Butte is about making cheesy western movies.

Pete (thinks the gameplay is pretty average though)
