The basic shape-shifting rules are quite clever. However, most of the scenarios tend to be a bit static...despite all the potential for mixing it up with the various movement, hiding, and searching capacities of the various creatures, the victory conditions of most scenarios tend to encourage just standing next to each other and whaling away.

As Gary Pressler's pointed out in the next thread, the game gets a lot better when you play one of the multiplayer item-capture scenarios from the 10th Anniversary edition. It's too bad we didn't realize this during development, but that's the small-press world for you. (Also, we hadn't yet formulated the game design rules of thumb that guided later products.)
