Okay, here is a little two player variant.

Here are the differences to the usual rules

The players start :

one in the outer right row, system 3 from the top
one in the outer left row, system 3 from the bottom

Players start with Home base, Star base and three fleets.

Game ends with shuffle 10. Every player have a last turn.

Only 5 handcards.

Only one card in reserve slots each.

Only 4 Tech - cards on display.

Additional VP rules :

Player get 1 additional VP for building more than 3 Colonies
( if you build 3, you get 6 VP´s for everyone )

If a player build a connected route of systems from his side to the opposite side of the board ( the other players side ) he get 8 VP´s.

We tried this out a few times now. Sometimes the board layout makes it impossible to build to the opposite side. but when it´s possible, this
can be some confrontation potential in the game.

Have fun..

True....but A handful of stars have the advantage
of a modular board for variation.

Just played the game for the first time with two players, and we both felt, that it needs some adjustments for 2p.

We thought about having less planets in game. Your rules seems interesting, but just from reading, I get the feeling it changes the game more then just a bit.
We might give it a try! Thanks for posting.
