My shelves are completely full and I've been ordered to make space before buying new ones. Does anyone have suggestions on how to sell/pass-on some older games?

BGG auction, BGG marketplace, math trade, Craigslist, Facebook buy/sell page, look for trades on BGG, give away to thrift shop. Good luck!

First step is to mark the ones you'd like to trim away as For Trade in BGG. Then let us look. I know I'd be interested in a couple of the games from your collection, some of the ones not yet on Ludica's shelves, and clearly other local gamers would too!

Also give away to friends or local game groups/clubs or friendly local game store or library etc.
Good luck!

first reply basically covered it. If space is your only concern also consider reboxing some games. I don't know your collection well enough to tell you which games would trim down best though.

It's like when someone ask you to trim down you weight. Why? There is just more of you to love!!! I feel the same way about my board game collection.

Just kidding, yeah, sometimes we need to prune the hedges.

I just ran into the same problem so I went through my library and combined a bunch of expansions into the base game boxes and then pitched the expansion boxes. Freed up a ton of room for me. I felt guilty getting rid of the boxes at first but it gets a lot easier the more you do it.

I'd like to put forward the idea of literally "Trimming Down" your collection.

Wow, thanks for all the suggestions and interest! I plan to convert part of my garage into a game room as a project for next year. I'll eventually have more shelf space, but I need to make room for all the new games between now and then

I added some of the games to my "For Trade" collection. Let me know if there's any that you're interested in. Thanks!

45?! I've been in houses with 4,000+. You have no need to trim down.

Step 1: Try to hide games inside other games to create shelf space…

Haha, what's with the collection shaming
I updated my BGG list with some games that I was missing, but I can't even imagine managing a library-sized collection.

It's a legit suggestion. I've taken a lot of small card games and put them into a card quiver; saved a lot of box space. I've thrown inserts and combined boxes (main and expansion) so that I could throw away the expansion boxes.

And yes; hide some in the garage where your wife won't find them.

I'm kidding... but seriously

Combination of auctions disclaiming you have right to pull games at any time and also list them on craigslist. Works like a charm and everyone wins.

if someone has a bid already on an item though i message them direct with an opportunity to buy it now (which i also disclaim)
