I intend to run a game by forum in the near future. Any takers?

I have some interest, but I do not own the game and have never played before, are the rules online?

Very astute questions. I intend to run the game with no prior knowledge assumed of the players, nor any material requirements. I'll supply the rules, maps and reports (mostly PDFs). The forum will supply the dice rolls. Players will join a DropBox folder where I will deposit all the required material.

Unlike Knights of Camelot, this game does have some secret information, so there will be either separate private DropBoxes, or encrypted zip archives (I will give each player his own key, obviously).

The details are fuzzy at this point, as I've never played the game beyond its Basic version, and I intend to go fully Advanced this time. Tentative start date is sometime next December or possibly next January.

The game is normally limited to four players (USA, USSR, Europe, China) but I don't think adding additional players would be a problem at all.

Update: I've scanned in most of what I'll need (event cards, failure tables, etc.) and I've started putting together the rule set we'll be using. I'll be putting together a semi-automated turn-tracking spreadsheet next. Progress has been slow but will certainly accelerate once I hit end-of-year vacation time.

Nearly ready now. I've written a short Introduction document that should whet your appetites, and created the spreadsheets and other accompanying documents. The DropBox has been created.

Send me your e-mails by GeekMail so I can give you access.

Currently, the player roster is:

* David Valenze (cedric18)
* Stephen A (ahdvitp)
* Mike D (porkbelly)

We have room for one more.

David, you get first pick of nation between the USA, the USSR, the EU, and China.

Stephen A (ahdvitp), you're next. The USSR, the EU, and China are your choices.

We'll wait a while for a fourth (which would be nice), but we can still get started meanwhile.

First off, let's roll your starting budgets.

USA: 60 + 1d6 = (4) = 4 MB
USSR: 60 + 1d6 = (2) = 2 MB
China (or should I write PRC?): 60 + 1d6 = (1) = 1 MB

I'll generate one spreadsheet per player, properly identified. Your "job" is to fill out your initial purchases (phases 3 and 4). Tab between editable cells and play around. If a cell goes red, your choices are illegal (during these first phases, it's just the treasury that could go into the red). Once satisfied, save your sheet and e-mail it to me (d.u.thibault@sympatico.ca) or drop it in the Liftoff! Inbox folder (you can do this for this phase because there are no secrets as yet). Once they're all in, I'll process them and produce sheets for the next phase.

I was first thinking of hiding the "irrelevant" rows, but I now think you'd rather have them available so you can play with your plans for the turn.

Initiative (decreasing budgets):
#1 USA
#2 USSR
#3 PRC

This post is duplicated (and the conversation should continue) in here.

Any spots left?

If not, I'd like to observe with a view to joining the next game.

I've had no response from fritz trying to get a copy of the game..

So would be grateful to clap eyes on liftoff
