for creating the badge!

So, for this month 20 have been tipped! YAY!

As I've been told, November is a Solitaire month.
At least that is, what the solitaire guilds are telling us ..
*shrugs*
Works for me:

So, this month's requirement is:

Solo

Remember: The requirement is just a requirement - not necessarily a theme! It's up to you, how you involve it in your game!
(Bonus points for totally not including Han in your game ...)

Happy designing and kind regards,
Kai

p.s.:

In the behaviour rules (see link to basic rules thread above) I've written:
Quote:
Please create a second posting in that thread to present your creation.

Please do present your game along with a short description in a posting. The reason I ask you to do this is simple: Creating geeklist entries becomes easier for me because from time to time copy-n-pasting from PDFs produces unexpected results (such as copying only odd symbols into the clipboard ..)
Thanks a lot

And if you'd like to spread the word of this contest, feel free to tweet about it:

Re: 24 hour contest November 2017
My instant thought was that I used to love playing Solo Whist, and it would be cool coming up with a contract-based game some time. Then I thought about Han Solo and Napoleon Solo. And then I was on solo flights around the world (or some other long routes). I also thought about sailing, but that's generally referred to as single-handed rather than solo.

Rebelling against the assumption that this would be a solitaire game challenge!

Will I find the time this month?

Given the popularity of multiplayer solitaire games there is not much of a contradiction. whistle

Heh, that's what I did last month. This month I think I'll play it as written... if I have time with NaGaDeMon and NaNoWriMo going on!

You could look at the 24 hour contest as NaGaDeDa!

I could... it's what I did last year. But this year I have another game I'm working on that needs to be done by Nov 21st.

Sounds fun. I'm in, and starting now under a rough title of "Solodarity"...

Re: 24 hour contest November 2017
Rules pdf here.

Illuminati is a non-traditional trick-taking game for 3-6 players, played with a standard deck of cards and incorporating semi-cooperative gameplay, deception, and simultaneous card selection. Players vie for control of political leaders, but failing to cooperate with others may result in the Illuminati being revealed and everyone losing.

It's a game of "solodarity", being semi-cooperative.

So, "solo" requirement does not necessarily indicate solitaire play is required?

It could instead indicate the use of a specific inexpensive brand of plastic cup as a component, or theme the game around the exploits of a certain space-scoundrel?

You just need to have the letters "solo" in that order, somewhere in the game. However you use them (theme, mechanics, decoration) is purely up to you!

There's a theory: if ever anyone discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable. There's another theory: this has already happened.

I recently got my hands on the Green Box of Games. Is it legitimate for this contest to use its components for the game? That would make it quite easy to deliver the game to a wider audience after the contest.

The print and play of these components can be found here: https://greenboxofgames.com/download-print-and-play/

I will just stare at the components with "solo" in mind and see what comes up.

"Solong, and thanks for all the fish!" comes to mind. Cheating, you say? Absolotely!

Not at all - interpreting the requirement is exactly in the spirit of the contest!

BTW: Yes, you may use the green box of games (which sounds a lot like 504!), as well as any other game components.

However, be aware that people without those components might not be able to play your game!

Kind regards,
Kai

Obviously a party game then! Though the "solo" requirement may make it challenging...

Happy anniversary!

Thanks!

Hah, I LOATHE party games! I'd rather gnaw off my arm!

I started doing these with a tile placement game. Perhaps I'll have to do a legacy tile placement game in honor.

Because I learned long ago not to design games I'm inherently not interested in.

Feel free to take on the challenge though!
