AAR2 – Turn 3, English Squadrons disengage

23rd July 1588, Beer Head [Turn 4]
English Attack & Spanish Counterattack [Tactical Move Phase]
English Attack met with a mixed success. Howard managed to slip through defending Spanish ships and inflict some heavy damage, but remaining English Squadron's weren't as lucky, and Drake suffered some heavy losses.
Howard finally engaged outermost Spanish Squadron, and inflicted devastating damage on exposed Medina III squadron (4D6 at +1 DRM resulted in outstanding roll of 2,6,6,6 – 7 hits!) Hawkins broke counterattacking Medina Sidonia's Squadron, but expended all the ammo in the process (unlucky roll of 1). Frobisher exchanged some damage with Bertandona's Squadron. Drake attempted to board ships from Recalde's Squadron but accurate fire broke English before they could engage Spanish ships.

AAR2 – Turn 4, Both sides are exhausted

24th July 1588, Portland Bill [Turn 5]
English Attack & Spanish Counterattack [Tactical Move Phase]
English used adverse winds to reorganize. Only Howard attacked weakened Medina Sidonia Squadron.
English used adverse wind as an opportunity to improve their overall situation – although Drake failed to rally, Howard inflicted further 2 losses on Medina Sidonia Squadron (at no loss to himself), Hawkins got tid of 'Low Ammo' marker (expending Quartermaster chit in the attempt) and Frobisher recovered some losses. Spanish used the opportunity to recover some losses themselves.

The Night [Reorganize and Reinforce Phase]
4 English Squadrons received some reinforcements during the night.

The Dawn [Weather Adjustment] & The Unexpected [Event Chits]
Armada reached the Solent and wind changed into Westerly again.
(Weather: Normal, Westerly Wind; Strategic Movement: Armada moved forward, 4 English Squadrons remained engaged.
Events: Spanish drew Parma Late* (English, placed in space 11) & Sea Sick* (used on Frobisher, no efect); English drew Hand of God & Critical Hit* (used on Recalde, with failed morale roll)

Unbroken Squadrons / Strength:
Total Spanish: 9/82 (-1), incl. Spanish Transports: 2/20 (+1)
Total English: 4/57 (+5)

25th July 1588, The Solent [Turn 6]
English Attack & Spanish Counterattack [Tactical Move Phase]
Renewed English attacks achieved little results. Frobisher and Howard tried to isolate on P. Valdes, but Squadron of Andalusia repulsed English advances. Hawkins managed to finish off Spanish Transport Squadron, and Drake finally gathered his dispersed ships.
Largely inefficient turn for the English. Both English Squadrons attacking P. Valdes achieved little – Frobisher only inflicted a single loss, and Howard attempted to board but was broken before his attack. Spanish attempts to recover some losses were unsuccessful – no ships rejoined.

The Night [Reorganize and Reinforce Phase]
Howard, Drake and Seymour received further reinforcements.

The Dawn [Weather Adjustment] & The Unexpected [Event Chits]
Harassed Armada reached Isle of Wight, with Westerly wind still blowing.
(Weather: Normal, Westerly Wind; Strategic Movement: Armada moved forward, 4 English Squadrons remained engaged.

Unbroken Squadrons / Strength:
Total Spanish: 9/78 (-1), incl. Spanish Transports: 2/18 (-2)
Total English: 4/59 (+2)

AAR2 – Turn 6, One Spanish Transport Squadron destroyed, both sides still recovering

26th July 1588, Isle of Wight [Turn 7]
English Attack & Spanish Counterattack [Tactical Move Phase]
As Howard was collecting ships from his Squadron, Hawkins and Frobisher both engage P. Valdes again, this time inflicting heavy losses. Drake engaged Oquendo and managed to break Spanish formation. Spanish managed to recover some losses.
English attack proved much more fruitful this turn. Hawkins and Frobisher (with a help of Rapid Fire counter) managed tu inflict further 4 losses on Oquendo and break it, whilst Drake himself inflicted 3 losses, also breaking his opponent.

Total English: 5/57 (-2)

27th July 1588, Selsey Bill [Turn 8]
English Attack & Spanish Counterattack [Tactical Move Phase]
Due to adverse wind, English took opportunity to attack exposed Spanish Squadrons at the outside of the formation. Drake attempted to engage Medina Sidonia's squadron but his captains didn't follow the lead. Frobisher engaged P. Valdes Squadron inflicting further losses. Both Howard and Hawkins tried to engage Moncada's Galeasses, but with mixed results. Spanish managed to rally most of their Squadrons.
English enjoyed mixed success. Whilst Frobisher inflicted heavy losses, Drake's failed his Boarding morale roll. Howard and Moncada broke each other Squadrons, but subsequent attack by Hawkins ended up with losses only to the English, thanks to the opportune play of Bad Powder and very lucky die rolls.

The Night [Reorganize and Reinforce Phase]
No reinforcements this turn
