Hi, my son is 10 now. He thinks all board games are boring. However, we have just returned from holiday where he insisted on playing Dobble and Ghost blitz each evening and we had a blast. Can anyone recommend any other games similar which we can sit and play together. Another one he likes is coconuts.
Ones he doesn't really like which we've tried are :

King of Tokyo
Ticket to ride
Mysterium
Thanks.

I would look into Flick 'em Up! or PitchCar, since maybe he likes something a little more active (which is maybe why he likes Ghost Blitz).

Or if you think he likes the speed thing maybe Escape: The Curse of the Temple might be something he might like.

Not sure if it works well for 10 year olds, but Galaxy Trucker is also a speed game.

At that age and with the notes you provided I probably wouldn't try anything too long or complicated just yet. In similar circumstances we had good luck with:

Cube Quest
GUBS: A Game of Wit and Luck
Eleminis (beware...it's barely a game, but kids still love it)
All the Fluxx games
Forbidden Desert and Forbidden Island
Dixit
Blokus

If he likes Ghost Blitz, check out Bugs in the Kitchen and Top That!.

I see you have Zombicide in your collection...has he tried that? That was a big hit my kids and their friends.

When my nephew was 8-10 we played Munchkin a LOT. It has the complexity I like in it's RPG style, it's cheap, and the art was appealing to him. It's quite simple to learn and there are a ton of expansion and different styles to keep it interesting for him. Good luck!

Does he have any particular hobbies or interests? Star Wars, lord of the Rings... police dramas... Sherlock Holmes? WWII? We were playing a lot of Camel Up and Memoir '44 and Imperial Assault when mine was 10.

What computer / console games does he like?

This recommendation isn't similar to the games you talked about at all, but it may apply for your son.

My 8 year old's favorite game, far and away, has been The Colonists (he also likes Agricola). We've only played the one full game, but he has basically not stopped bugging me to play again since then. He doesn't care if he wins, he just wants to build stuff. His favorite video games are things like Minecraft and Terraria, and these games let him just build stuff. The Colonists hits the same buttons for him that his computer games do.

Of course, not everyone wants to play a game over two or three evenings. Agricola seems to do the same thing in a much shorter timeline.

e: The general advice is more to look at what kind of entertainment he likes outside of boardgaming and think about what type of games might hit the same triggers for him.

Escape: The Curse of the Temple or the big box. Games are only 10 min but it is a crazy 10 min of frantically rolling dice.

I have a 7 yr old who is a pretty serious little gamer.

Some of his favourites are:

Karuba
Tokaido
Takenoko
Avenue
Kingdomino
Cottage Garden
Magic Maze
ANY Co-OP (pandemic, forbidden dessert, flashpoint)
Onitama
Marvel legendary

He also likes coconuts as well.

As you mentioned that he likes Ghost Blitz and Dobble I assume that he wants his games to be fast paced and action oriented and doesn't like downtime.

Therefore I recommend 5-Minute Dungeon

I got a glance at it in Essen and it looked really cool.

It looks like he enjoys games with simple rules, short duration but meaningful decisions. This is not very easy to find. I think he could enjoy Star Realms and Sushi Go. Nyia is another game that might work.
