Do you actually use the unpainted (!) miniatures?

Personally, I find them kind of - sorry! - useless. They are too small, fiddly and unclear. If you choose a certain combination of heroes, it is okay; but otherwise it is just a small block of grey mass.

I am just curious whether I am either too critical or simply a cardboard-person... :-)

BTW: And someone added a white point on one of my dice so that the 2 actually is a 2nd 3 now

I haven't played 7 Continents yet, but I use unpainted minis in other games.

I did not have a problem in other games - Scythe!, Flash Point - so far. But it is a different story with 7C.

No. They're silly and take away from the game. Colored wood cubes are better.

We used the standees or tokens. They do sorta take up too much space of the card though.

Just finished painting mine last night. I much prefer minis to standees, I'd have used the unpainted anyway. But I agree, unpainted, they'd be harder to tell apart.

Also, they had to be that small or they'd obscure the card info too much.

There are several pro painters out there that can do this kind of work if you don't want to paint them yourself.

We have so far used the cardboard tokens as character representations, but we sometimes have to take them off to see that they aren't covering up any crucial hints on the cards.

I agree with you! When I first started playing I exclusively used the standees because the cave color and context to the game. The gray minis are so small that the just wash out amid the vibrant cards and environment. I jumped back into painting about a few months ago and these were the first ones I painted. They are all I use now to play the game with!

I do not use the minis atm. I might paint them at some point, but unpainted, the standees are better.

In my solo game I used the cardboard standee. In our 4-player game we used the minis to save space. But I agree the minis are hard to tell apart.

All of the painted examples above are outstanding, BTW. I will I could paint like that. I don't have the time, but it would be nice to have the talent.

Seem to be not that rare I do as well.

I'm also using the standees, but you also have to look at them a bit closer to tell them apart.

Painting them helps a lot and really adds some atmosphere to the game:
