Where are you looking? What are you comparing it to?

I compared Miniaturemarket to Philibert.

(sure, it's a few bucks, but compare other game and you'll see that a few bucks less in Europe is like a 40% discount).

Looks like it's not a US thing, but an English language printing thing. It's also very expensive in the UK. As to why..... good question.

Without knowing about what difference we are actually talking: mostly because the publisher has to pay a ~6 week long ride on a boat over an ocean (Lookout games are produced in Germany).

Though I’m sure that doesn’t amount to $15 per copy. It also doesn’t explain why it’s €50 ($58) in France and £60 ($78) in the UK.

Pretty sure Mayfair has a rule (much like Asmodee) where stores can't sell /advertise selling their games above something like 20% off.

Perhaps the UK copies take a trip through US?

Yeah, I think this is a result of Mayfair's policies... which makes it cheaper to import from Canada or wait for a sale from Amazon (since they seem big enough to ignore those policies) than to buy from US shops. Seems like a really great way to support smaller game shops.

No. The UK copies are already there, while the games for the USA are still on board or at port.
Please note that foreign pricing is completely courtesy of the local distributor.

I guess I am out of the loop. What do you mean by "the current state of Mayfair"?

Here's a thread of rumor mongering for your reading pleasure:
Mayfair Games Sees Layoffs. Is it Closed Down?

Best I can tell, the only things we know for sure is that some people got fired/laid off. The future of the company seems.... ambiguous at this point.

Personally, I'm leaning towards the "swallowed by a dragon" theory.
