Hello!

Did anyone play a demo at Essen?
Anything to report?

I'm very curious about this game!
Not only it's RAMBO wich is good by itself, it's also a cooperative game with stealth elements!
I want to know more, some impresssions from someone who got to test it.
That's if I haven't misunderstood and there was no demo to play

They only had a prototype version at essen, not the final game components, the kickstarter should be in january.
Expansion boxes would cover the different movies.

But didnt got around to try it out, too much to see ;-)

Wow!

Very mean! --- It was only an Alpha Demo copy

We have already done many more of the graphics... the Alpha prototype demo was all white papers etc... straight from playtesting!

At Pax Unplugged and BGG Con we are going to have much more to show! We're getting in the artwork and more day by day!

We will be sharing a TON more over this weekend!

Keep Posted!

It's EPIC indeed!

I would think the way Big Trouble and Little China (BTILC) turned out that the quality would be near the same or better. I think BTILC was pushed to the beginning of next year so will not receive the deluxe edition to provide a better input or pictures.

Rambo does sound like an exciting game! I spent more on Star Wars Battlefront then when the Rambo game becomes available! There was a season pass and other things which made it more. Then when you go to the next gen it'll be out of date. Where is Rambo is always compatiable with any game space you play it on.

Safe to say I would give it a run and see where it goes for a couple of bucks.

Didn't mean to be rude. Sorry. But it looked indeed like an unfinished prototype. Which it was. I'll be waiting to seeing the final artworks/components, don't get me wrong.

Big trouble looks fantastic and the Deluxe version seems like a really good deal. I am however curious how Big Trouble and Rambo compare from the perspective of gameplay mechanics. I ask because it would seem that the 2 games were developed close together (time frame wise), they are both co-ops, and share a designer. While I am sure both will be amazingly thematic, I am not sure how unique or different they will end up being mechanically. Will Rambo be sort of like an Improved Conan, like Monolith is doing with Batman or is an entirely different monster? As a big fan of Rambo, I am looking forward to it!

Haha. Sorry for the poor looking prototype. Have been spending my time designing the game rather than doing graphic design. I will leave that to the experts ;-D

Thank you all for your answers! Sorry for my late reply

Well, since you asked Christopher, I do have questions that are probably going to be answered when the KS campaign comes around

That said, I'm especially curious on the stealth elements of the game:
I loved playing Commandos (1+2+3 and even SF) and from time to time I play those games again
How does it work here? Is it just a "skill roll" to stay hidden? Do you have to calculate enemy movement to go into their tile\zone without alerting anyone?

Also, how much is important to be stealthy in the game?
I know you said we can play our way, but if there is a style (loud or quiet) that is easier \ more rewarding, it gets predominant and the other approach discarded.

EDIT: I hope the link will work this time. Man, Rambo is so stelthy not only he disappear but his video will also vanish

EDIT: Nope, it seems I can't include a YouTube video Is there a specific procedure to follow? What is the video ID?

So for stealth, there's two major factors

Your Alert Meter and Cover.

Your alert meter starts in "green" meaning you're invisible to enemies. As you shoot guns and make other alert noise, it raises from green to yellow to red. When in yellow you must be in cover to be invisible. And when in red, you're always visible. You can "hide" and do other things to lessen your alert or prevent it in the first place "tactics cards / gear like suppressors" but you travel from cover to cover and you can indeed be invisible and stealthy. Main thing to remember is: its up to you how you want to play. You want to be stealthy or guns blazing it's up to you.

Side note: cover can be hazardous.. You need to roll for cover to see if there's a hazard or perhaps something good or useful you find within your cover. These hazards change each game.

Also, when in "the green" of alert, you're invisible OUT of cover... Meaning you can sneak right by enemies... Or perhaps take em out real quiet like while walking by

The choice is yours!

Chris

All life is only a set of pictures in the brain, among which there is no difference betwixt those born of real things and those born of inward dreamings, and no cause to value the one above the other.

Not Essen, but report from PAX Unplugged.

I've read your report and I like your choice of words: a more sophisticated system for a stealth game

That's what I was waiting for, even though I can't promise I won't go in dual wielding machineguns from time to time
