How necessary are the maps during play? They’re big, lovely high-detailed maps, but, for instance,

I’m on Day 4 and haven’t seen the need to refer to the maps other than a nice prop for sense of place. I could have followed all the clues with the newspapers, fingerprints, and clue book.


I know in Sherlock Holmes Consulting Detective,

there’s one case where if you were insane enough to comb the map, it paid off with a big clue.

Anyone know how crucial the maps are to the gameplay?

Gumshoe was made by the same people as SHCD, so one should consider the maps as including things that need to be used to solve some crimes.
