Sam Macdonald is currently working on a solo variant. If it doesn't make it into the base game rules, it will at least be posted here on BGG. We'll see!

Hey buddy! Thanks for your interest. I made some good progress on the solo variant over the weekend. Found myself playing 5 times back-to-back and it was enjoyable and quite addictive. Lots of balancing and tweaking required though!

As Shem said, we're not sure if the solo variant will make it into the box, but we'll see what we can do.

Any updates on the solo variant?

It will be included in the base game. It's a card-driven ai which ramps up as the game progresses. A lot of fun and very challenging.

Is there a location to read the rules for 2P vs bot?

Setup

Player One: 7 Virtue, 3 Silver.
Player Two: 7 Virtue, 4 Silver.
Draft Building Cards in the same manner as a standard 2 player game.

Opponent: 7 Virtue, no Silver, no Building Cards.

7 Rewards in Cathedral.
Separate and shuffle ‘starting’ Schemes and ‘future’ schemes.

Game ends after 16 constructions.
Bot opponent is third in turn order.

Rules

Oppponent’s turn:
Reveal top Scheme Card, place 1 Worker on the indicated location and take the listed actions. If they have no Workers at the start of their turn, return all Workers (excluding Guildhall and Black Market / including captured and imprisoned), then shuffle all discards back into the Schemes draw pile.

Capturing:
When a Town Centre Scheme Card is revealed, they capture the most workers of both human players for a single action.
For example, the most Player One has is 4 on the Mines. The most Player Two has is 3 on the Quarry. Their opponent therefore captures all 7 Workers as a single capture action.
