Got these in just before Hollandspiele launched their sale today, but they were already discounted...

Expands upon its spiritual predecessor, which I'll be trying first...

Really interesting "cup" system where chits can transfer back and forth. Agricola has just an 8.5" x 11" map (plus a same-sized player aid), which fits nicely on a nightstand so I don't have to occupy my solitaire table.

Charlie looks to have a lot of meat on the bone, quite excited to get to it soon!

Rest of my birthday haul that arrived a day late.

I also picked up a copy of

That franchise could be an interesting idea for a "real" science fiction wargame!

War of Tanks: France 1940 – The Breakthrough at Dinant

Snapped up a pristine copy of this -- and the accompanying Battles magazine issue that it came with -- after keeping a watchful eye on the GeekMarket for months.

Not only did it come highly recommended...

see: Punching Above Its Weight

...but it's right in the 1940 wheelhouse.

Just got this late last month...

Managed to get in 1 play too! It proved to be tense and fun although a few rules mistakes (notably about reserves) were made.

I've been looking at this and the Fair Oaks game, and leaning towards the latter just a bit. Curious as to your impressions.

Of course I'd be happy if you bought either of them, but I'd say the biggest difference is that MAA (and Objective Shreveport!) are very much operational scale games with a strong emphasis on manuever and coming to grips with the enemy who might not always be willing to accept battle on your terms. Seven Pines/Fair Oaks, on the other hand, is very much a brigade-level battle game, so it scratches a very different itch.

I'm not Andrew (or Tom!), but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Expr... I mean I have played and written reviews for both games.

Like Tom said, they are both very different games, and scratch different itches. SPFO is a brigade level tactical game that introduces a series (Shot & Shell), MAA is a stand alone operational game with a rulebook half the size. They both play quickly, MAA a bit faster. I really like them both and they are staying in my collection. I'm a sucker for ACW games I can play in an afternoon.

for selling off half my ASL Core Modules on Ebay and not to himwhistle and then missing out on the North Texas ASL Shootout last month on top of that, I realized how much I enjoyed learning the ASLSK system earlier this year and proceeded (attempted?) to reacquire that which was sold.

I've been successful for the most part, with these 3 items fresh in my hands and a fourth on the way.

and the 4th, newly purchased

I'm ok with not going after Festung Budapest again. I've got the other two main HASL and Red Factories is pending for middle of 2018. That leaves Doomed Battalions: ASL Module 11 and Croix de Guerre: ASL Module 10 that I used to have, but in no hurries to reacquire at this point. Unless someone wants to trade for them?
