Never seen minis for SFB but IIRC, the minis for SFBM were pretty good sized - about 2-3" long.

FWIW, size doesn't matter. The ships are decorative. The square base card they sit on is the target compass from which you shoot and get shot.

there's really no scale. In fact in the predecessor to this version - the Star Trek Battle Manual - there were instructions to accommodate using the AMT models of the Enterprise and the Klingon ship.

As all the drama in the 70's played out, Paramount owned the IP and Amarillo Design Bureau owned the official license to produce the game using Paramount's IP and they had some serious discussions with Gamescience about that.

The Amarillo ships back in the day were really clunky to assemble. Gamescience's ships were perfect, especially the plastic ones. Those went together perfectly, almost not even needing glue. For a time, Amarillo recommend the Gamescience ships over their own and allowed them to be produced and sold for a time by Gamescience.

Amarillo still makes ships or jobs them out to be used for Star Fleet Battles.
