The stacking limit in a non-island land area is unlimited, but only 6 SPs can attack another stack. (GSR 6.3-6.4) If the defending stack survives the first 6, can a second stack of attackers attack them in the same combat segment? Or is six attacking SPs the limit for the entire segment?

Related query - do any arty/HQ units firing on a combat count towards the 6 stacking limit, or are they additional?

Only if they are stacked with the attacking stack of units. As long as you keep them out of that stack they can provide support.
