16.5.2.5 seems to imply that paths to patrol markers are not subject to ZOCs or even the presence of an enemy unit. I'm assuming you can't place a patrol marker in the same hex as an enemy unit, however could you trace it's movement path (ground move specifically for CIDG) through a PAVN unit when placing such a marker?

16.5.2.1 Fourth paragraph wrote:
Patrol markers cannot be stacked, placed adjacent to each other, nor placed in a hex which is enemy occupied.


Aside from the limits of some Patrol markers concerning range in Movement Points from their parent unit (and the above quoted rule), there are no limits to placing Patrol markers.

Yup, so you could trace the path for patrol placement through an enemy unit, however you would be prohibited to react to that patrol hex with the parent unit by ground moving through an enemy unit (unless using helicopter movement).
