The card says "shift down 1 row for squadron attack." "Shift 2 columns right for bombing." What does this mean?

I havent started playing and I'm going through everything first to make sure I understand.

It’s refering to two different charts.
Shift one colum down on the “Combat results table”
Shift 2 columns to the right on the “Bombing Table”

The upshot is: the bombers are more vulnerable to squadron attacks but do more damage when they bomb (being low level)
Make sense?

It means when you resolve the squadron attack (squadrons fighting bombers and escorts) you use the row one down (advantageous for RAF) on the table.
When bombing (assuming bombers remain in the bomber box after the squadron attack) you shift two columns right (advantageous for the Germans)

Take a look at the player aids with the respective combat resolution charts and it will be clear

And be warned: the table for air fights looks intimidating but is really good and quite intuitive once you spent a minute or two to figure out what's going on with it.
