For those who don't like the Battle die mechanism (or just find the "+" result -the Frenzy rule- too complicated), you can implement one of these three variants in case of a fight between two units of the same strength :

1) no battle die is used : the two units are eliminated (classic Stratego rule)

2) only the color of the battle die is taken into account (that means that one of the two units is always eliminated)

3 (my preferred one) : all the results of the battle die are implemented normally -including the R (wounded unit going to the reserve)- except for the two + sides who now result in the elimination of the two fighting pieces (the attacker + the defender -like in the original Stratego)

EDIT : if you find this third variant a little too rude for the two sides (33% chances of mutual destruction), you can refine it a little :
+ result of the attacking side's color : both units are eliminated .
+ result of the defending side's color : both units are severely wounded and put in the reserve .
