This game is very popular among the 5-10 years old kids in the day-care/tuition centre I help run. However the rule about how the wolf picks its target house to blow can be a bit problematic as some children are reluctant to pick anyone's house while others just love to gang up on a poor victim. Some games just degenerated to a series of revenge attacks.
So I change the rule to that whenever a 'wolf' arises, each other players has to choose a building from their own collection and designate it to be blown. IT must be a completed house with roof if possible. If there is no completed house, then the player can offer any incomplete house.
This rule change is well received as it lessens the take-that element while adding another layer of decision for the players to consider. The peace loving 'pigs' can concentrate on building houses while the more aggressive 'Wolves' can indulge their gleeful desire for destruction by trying to roll up a 'wolf'. Since the wolf cannot choose his victim, this lessen the feeling of victimisation. The coming of the 'wolf' is viewed more like a impersonal disaster suffered by players rather than a personal vindictive attack against any individual.
