I plan on purchasing the game some time next week. Along with the core game, I'll be buying at least two more teams, so we can play 4 players (I might even buy an extra ring to get a mini tournament going).

Are some of the teams more interesting then the others? I guess it would be more fun to have 4 very different teams

How do the single figures/Superstas/Whatever they're called work? Can they only be matched with specific teams? or are the "neutral"?

So, I'm curious what teams you picked up? I went with 1 from each casino when I first bought. Having now played the game a bit I think I'd have tried to get both teams from the same casino to start. That way mix and match wouldn't cost me the sponsorship bonus. The superstars are very cool but seem a bit over the top power-wise in most cases (...Phage...).

If you haven't picked it up yet, any wrestler can fight for any team but you get to pick a "sponsorship" bonus if all your wrestlers are from the same casino or free-agents. As for which teams....whatever you like the look of. The Divas and the Shadows are very good, but they are all about finesse and can go down very quickly as well.

I bought the lizard men team and the dwaves. Unfortunately me and my group found the game extremely disappointing. So I've already sold it.

Shame you didnt enjoy, personally I pick wrestlers whose parodys I recognise. I ignored the teams as I'm more about recreating Wrestlemanias of yesteryear over blood bowl in a ring.
Most 2 player matches I play 2v2 or 3v3 with superstars over the 5 man gangs, ignore any penalties for casino synargies its just for fun and learning the game.
As most of my friends aren't gamers I found this helped me gain more interest from and gives familiarity for wrestling fans trying a tabletop game. If I'm showing it to a blood bowl or guild ball player who knows nothing of how Hulkamania ran wild in the 90's, then I tend to use the teams from the core set usually a 3 v 3 with a mini from each weight class, then 5 man orcs v humans once they got the hang of it.

My initial roster consisted of:

Ronnie Salvage (Macho Man)
Gravedigger (Undertaker)
Baxter (British Bulldog)
Chuck (Doink)
Caria ((Chyna) Gotta have a diva right)

This small handful of characters was enough to have some fast and fun matches with enough diversity to show off the games features.

Bought a load more yesterday and hope to get them painted in time for a Summer Slam event. This wave will allow me to make better matches with casino/factions and not all the characters are wrestler spoofs which I hope will appeal to a different audience.

Gun (Hulk Hogan)
Orkishi (Rakishi)
Triple D (HHH)
Jester (Diva sidekick for Chuck, sadly not a halfling)
Toothpick (Master Splinter)
Vitamir (Zangief)
I also bought 2 of the tag teams they released, Relentless Dosh (Tenacious D (think Jack Black + Goatmen)) and the Legion of Doom Parody whose names I forget.
