Can you pick up gold by moving over it or do you need to end your turn on it?

You can only loot on the move through card abilities. The card will be a move ability and tell you to loot every overlay tile you pass over. Otherwise, a loot card ability with range allows you to loot every coin within range of your character's position at the time of playing the loot ability. To loot without card abilities, you must end your movement on top of a coin. If at the end of your turn your character is on top of a coin, you loot that coin.

There are two ways you can do it: cards that say Loot or by standing on the thing at the end of your turn. You're normally in too much hurry to pick up pennies from the floor.

Nitpik here: in most cases you are looting a coin token. At the end of the scenario that coin is turned into gold at the exchange rate established by the scenario stats.

Or more precisely, the Scoundrel has a card that allows looting while moving. The classes don't have any innate abilities.

Sorry for the nitpicking.

Also of note is that end-of-turn looting (i.e. picking up the coin you are standing on) only happens at the end of YOUR turn.

There are certain cards that allow one of your allies to give you a movement action on their turn, or you could be pushed/pulled by an enemy. But the end-of-turn looting doesn't apply after those movements.

If anyone was wondering if the rule book covers this, it's pg. 27 section "end of turn looting".

Can you loot gold if your card has a
Movement
attack
movement

where you use your movement to end on gold on your first movement and then attack and then end your movement again would that make you pick up 2 gold pieces if they were available?

No. It's only based off where you end your turn. You can loot coins through end of turn looting even if you don't have a move action, if you happened to start your turn on top of a coin (there are ways for this to happen). I actually looted a coin while long resting once.

As a theme-and-story player, I say "Bah" to the both of you. The Ability Cards are just the mechanism through which we track our characters' ever-increasing capabilities. So Humbug.

You can explain this thematically - first move is just a short stop, you don't have as much time spent in one place as when you do with end of turn looting, so you won't notice loot

Imagine a short leap towards enemy, quick hit and leap back, no stopping for loot when harassing!

You pick up money tokens, which are converted to gold at the end of the scenario attempt.

You're late to the party...
