December 2nd half (12/31) '17 US Shipping Perpetual Math Trade

Trade ends 12/31/17 9pm PST.

This is a US shipping math trade. To participate you must be able to ship and receive from/to a US address. You must also use www.abecorn.com to list and setup your matrix. Your BGG account will be linked on sign up.

Need help on your first trade? See the Quickstart

To join: Go to http://trade.abecorn.com, click "Hosted Trades", click the big link with the timer and the dinosaur "XYZ Shipping Trade".

We've updated the cash/value feature from your suggestions. How cash offers work

Major differences from OLWLG trades

-Your traded entries are automatically subtracted if they trade.
-If you don't login at least once a week and accept your matrix, your account will go inactive and won't be considered in that run.
-The submission window is always open.
-You're automatically notified of deleted or edited entries you want.
-You can make direct cash offers on entries
(if you set a minimum value for your listed entries, you also automatically want ALL cash entries anyone may offer of that value or greater in exchange for your item)
-You can see all the current offers on your entries (You can also offer direct trade offers from this offer screen)
-Click all boxes in row/column is built in and doesnt need 3rd party software
-Duplicate protection is a single click.
-You can duplicate protect different unlike listings in two clicks.
-Your results are final when the timer runs out. Results are posted automatically on BGG, geekmail, and email.
-It works on all browsers and devices

Results are automatically posted on BGG at
abecorn results page, you'll also receive a geekmail and email if you have results.

Anytime you make a change to your matrix, you must click the accept button to be considered in the results.

Rules and Guidelines:

d10-1This trade will utilize www.abecorn.com

d10-2You are required to accurately describe the condition of your game. This entails inventorying all parts including inserts. Should you find your game is in lesser condition than you originally listed it. Edit the listing or delete it.

d10-3Unless stated, it will be assumed that your game is the most recent printing. If the primary language is something other than English, this needs to be clearly stated, even if the game is language independent. Please acknowledge questions to all of your listings.

Sample Description:

Condition: 1 corner dented(Photo Below)
Edition: Multilingual 2nd
Ships: Free to all 50 incl MPO's

d10-4 Add sweeteners by typing the name of the game into the condition description of the primary lsting.

d10-5Items that are not in the database but related to gaming or a similar culture are allowed. You amy create your own custom entry for this purpose.

d10-6 If you intend to trade for cash equivalents, you must pay BGG a 3% commission. See Guidelines

d10-7 Do not use a listing for items unless you are offering that listing. For example, do not list a game if you're only offering certain components for that game.

d10-8You are responsible for your listings and the results. Please message users with questions on their listings. Results are monitored, but assumed final when the timer runs out.

I've got FedEx Smartpost setup based on how many exchanges we've done over the last year.

It should save everyone shipping 40-60% over USPS. After the trade is over, if you're interested, send me the box dimensions and weight and I'll email you a label to use. It's not yet formally integrated into abecorn for you to generate your own labels, but will have something put together soon.

I have a couple of questions for my first trade:

1) Am I to understand that this "perpetual" trade means my matrix is rolled over to the next trade automatically? All I need to do is approve the matrix, assuming my wants still exist, right?

2) Is it better to list multiple copies of something multiple times, or just use the "quantity" field when submitting a "Have"?

Thanks for the excellent platform!

1. Yes to both questions
2. List multiple copies of things, we disabled quantity for the moment (it was buggy after the last patch).

With about 72 hours left and 21% of the matrices approved. We're starting to show some trades. Don't forget to click "Approve Matrix" if you want to participate!

Another newbie to math trades here with a few queries: I click on the "received offers" button and notice that I have several bites. Do I accept the offers I'm interested in by contacting the user directly? What happens if I click on the "direct trade" icon? Does that automatically make the trade final? Or do I just wait until the deadline and sift through my offers/accept the ones I want then?

Thanks in advance for the reply.

If you click on direct trade, it opens a trade that requires each party approve within 3 days.

When the main trade timer runs out, if you've clicked "accept matrix" when the trade loops are generated there is no additional approval process.

OK, I think I got the direct trade thing but I’m still unsure about the trade loops. Right now, I see multiple games offered for one of mine. If I don’t accep/initiate a direct trade, do I just wait for the trade loops to generate, choose the one I want then accept matrix? That is, will I get to see the trade loops before I approve?

You don't get to see (or participate in) the trade loop results before you've clicked "Accept Matrix". You're committing to whatever the results say when the timer runs out. The Make Trades matrix you've filled out (before clicking Accept Matrix) should only connect the offers you've posted with the listings you'd be willing to trade them for. The trade loops are calculated off of that matrix data and only for those that have clicked "Accept Matrix".

We had in the past attempted to do it the way you suggested, but there was always one person who rejected the results, not that they were unsatisfied, but because there are multiple potential true outcomes to the trade loops based on what matrix connections have been made. The fear that a better outcome might be possible is alluring, especially if someone else gets a game you had wanted (despite that it might not be possible for you to receive that game in any iteration of the data).

one thing I was thinking that would be nice for trades is for everyone to see an approved % live on abecorn, I dont know if its a major change to make that available or not?

That's not a bad idea, but my only concern would be if the % had some psychological effect on people clicking accept or not.

Hi everyone -

Granted, perhaps I'm jumping the gun here, but I've had one trade request expire plus a GM go unanswered. I've filed a new trade request, but I don't want to have the trade get invalidated because of this hiccup. I'm supposed to ship off my copy of In the Year of the Dragon (plus expansions!), but obviously I don't have an address.

He might still be on holiday and not checking BGG regularly. Try sending him a BGG message. I'll message you his email as well.
