Can a student/pawn capture a master?

(Saturday afternoon Kung-Fu movies of the olden days say it is possible.)

The rule book mentions about pawn vs pawn, but we didn't find anything to the student vs master scenario.

In the rulebook, the illustrated example (How do I win? >> The Way of the Stone) is actually of a student capturing a master. So yes, it is possible.

I would say Pawn capturing Master is the most common kind of victory.

For sure. Occasionally someone will win by capturing with a Master or by moving the master into the winning position through agressive play, but in my experience it's not nearly as common.
