Yes Kickstarter characters, but they will be available (except one I think? Tristan).
To elaborate on this single gameplay-relevant KS exclusive piece: Tristan will be available for retail in the form of a companion, so you can get the figure and use it as his hero mini as well. All of his skills are readily available as an in-app-purchase in the Android/IOs S&S app. But if you want, you could also just print out his skill cards from the Facebook page of S&S where the character was introduced.
Since these cards are never shuffled or drawn from a pile, it really doesn't matter if the look or feel like the "real thing".
Edit: In fact, you could get the skill cards for ALL the additional heroes by either unlocking them in the Sword & Sorcery app or by browsing the S&S Facebook page's pictures section. You could use any miniature you like as a proxy. That is, if you don't want to wait until they finally hit retail. Victoria and Onamor are already anounced and will hit retail early 2018.
