Tis the season and I am doing some last minute shopping for some stocking stuffers.

I looked up The Dice Tower's recommendations and their last video was from couple of years ago. I myself am running out of self space and would like my future purchases to be some small box games.

But there's no way in BGG to search for such "small box" games.
This is what I'm proposing:

Add a new subdomain called "Small box games". That way, while using the advanced search option, it would be super easy to get the entire list.

I thought of searching for geek lists, but geek lists would always need to be managed and the search results page is more succinct that a geek list in this particular scenario IMO.
(I also wouldn't want my games to be more than 3 on the complexity scale, so I use multiple search parameters.)

Thoughts?

Not a bad idea, but there would have to be a definition of small box games. What size would constitute the cut off between small box and large box?

What happens if a game comes in a small box and a large box?

See Condottiere.

Or if it comes in a large box for retail reasons, but really belongs in a small box?

I am sure someone with some programming skills could set up a search of the version dimensions, then you could search for the maximum size and get a list of games that fit that criteria. (Also the search would have to remove duplicates). I will pay 200 geek gold to the first enterprising person who creates such a script.

Anything smaller than a standard box would fit this category. Games like Tiny Epic Galaxies, Port Royal, Boss Monster: The Dungeon Building Card Game and smaller . If there's a game which is debatable, then let BGG debate and decide it's fate.

Retail version now available for purchase is the only version that counts.

And how would we differentiate small box from smallpox?

It strikes me as being a lot simpler to just add "box dimensions" as advanced search parameters and then have the search return specific versions.

Granted, this might only -seem- similar, since I don't know how the database handles versioning.

Or what about cowpox? Or cow box? Somebody needs to put together a geeklist of games that come in cow boxes.

It seems like the right (though more difficult) solution is to allow "dimensions" to be attached to versions of a game (so you can track how different versions are different sizes), which would allow you to see that info, filter on it ("no dimension larger than 15") or whatever.

They already have dimension sizes on games, click on a game and then versions and then possibly more info and it will show you the size of that game box, the issue is there is no way to search by that data.
