Hello GWT players!

Builder rush to 10a in four rounds
Prerequisites:
- plenty of craftsman to hire on job market laugh
- job market before contruction building (A -> B)

Overview of buildings aligned by required craftsman:

----------------

Ideal Round 1:

=> Coins: 7 (6-8)

# buy cowboy for 6 coins
=> Coins: 1

# visit building F and discard two cards for 4 coins
=> Coins: 5

# deliver cows for 7 coins to Kansas City for additional 6 coins
# open second part of auxiliary action one
=> Coins: 18

----------------

Ideal Round 2:

# buy "Longhorn" for 12 coins (and get 2 coins for cow)
=> Coins: 8

# hire craftsman for 7 coins
=> Coins: 1

# get 2 coins with auxiliary action one
=> Coins: 3

# build 3b/4ab (or replace 1ab/2ab/3a with 5ab) for 2 coins and a "Dutch Belt" 5 fields away from Kansas City
=> Coins: 1

# visit building F and discard two cards for 4 coins
=> Coins: 5

# deliver cows for 7 coins to Kansas City for additional 6 coins
# open 4x certificate
=> Coins: 18

----------------

Ideal Round 3:

# hire third craftsman for 5-7 coins

=> Coins: 11

# replace 3b/4ab with 7ab/8a for 4 coins and a "Dutch Belt"

=> Coins: 7

# deliver "Longhorn" for +11 coins to Albuquerque (-5)
# open 6x certificate

=> Coins: 13

----------------

Ideal Round 4:

# hire fourth craftsman for 6 coins
=> Coins: 7

# replace 7ab/8a with 10a for half the price (4 coins)
=> Coins: 3

--------------------------------

# place cowboy and fourth craftsman as station masters

----------------

Rush, run, do not stop for no-one.

You can't deliver 4 cards for 9 coins (hand of 4 cards can only be 2+2+2+1 = 7) You can get it to 8 with an additional stop: Building C 'Increase Certificate Marker' followed by 'Move train 1 space per engineer' = 1 space.

I take it your opponents never build 'toll' buildings. Unfortunately for you I do. Going first (I see you went 2nd) I built 1a (starting coins are 6-9 for 4 players;you are playing 3 player) which will cost 2 coins to pass through. If the third player copies me we can cost you 2 (or the 1 you have left) before building F, so you need to remember to drop a cow at building A when hiring a Cowboy to pay for that, or only have 17 coins at the end of round 1, 18 if you remembered.

I'm assuming there are no hazards out, so you might want an additional stop at Building D to pick up the 6 coin teepee that came out, if I didn't get there first!

I think he's hoping to get the 3 that he bought earlier 3+2+2+2=9 Probably wishful thinking that he can buy the 3, exhaust his draw-deck, get a reshuffle, and draw it before KC.

I guess this would work if you were playing solo or against completely inexperienced/brain-dead opponents.

Well that at least adds a visit to buildings E to drop a 2 and buy the 3 cow, but I don't see how you can get through the deck in a single run without a lot more stops.

Wonder what everyone else is doing while this is going on?

I think the idea is that this is what full-on Heavy Builder strives for, and sub-optimal cards or opponent tactics take it down from there.

But if you were to get 10a out in the fourth round, you'd probably be looking at a stomping, not just a win. Getting 10a out at any time is a strong indicator of high win percentage.

Holy cow! Alan, you are absolutely right. There is no way to get 9-coin-delivery with 4 cards. Will update my plan to work with 7-coins and try to build a toll-building in the first round to mitigate opponents tolls. Thank you!

In round 2, how can you build directly #3 or #4 if you only have (edit: 1 craftsman) 2 craftsmen ?

I have some trouble to memorize all buildings, so here is a small overview for the sophisticated builder. arrrh

Good catch, Dan! The job market building (A) has to be before the contruction building (B). I will add this.

on edit: 3b/4ab require exactly two craftsman. I uploaded an image with the buildings aligned on craftsman boundaries.

I don't have any exact build orders, but I'm pretty sure that under the right circumstances and if you forgo buying cows, you should be able to get 10a out during round 3.

I think technically you could even do it in round 2. Both the job market and construction building need to come late enough that you have time to pick up a lot of cash.

Round 1.
-Pick up a craftsman ($6)
-Build a 2 ($4)

Round 2.
-Pick up two craftsmen ($14-16)
-Upgrade your building from 2 to 6 with you bonus ($4)
-Upgrade from 6 to 9 at the construction building ($6)

That's a total of $10 in round one, and $24-26 in round two. Assuming the stars align and you always have a perfect hand it is doable. But of course it's gonna take a couple of extra stops before you get the money required for your second round so you really need to luck out and not have your opponents take those craftsmen away from you in the meanwhile.

Yes, when you're rushing for a 10 building you have to drop two disks in KC to get the founds.
I've never seen this thread by the way, it's funny to see how a year later the concept of "rushing" has completely changed . Exploring this game is a beautiful journey.
