Great game design makes the complex simple, replayability maximum, and abstraction credible.

It’s not how well you roll that counts but how well the dice suit the game.

Do the current retail copies of WBTS include the Update Kit in the box?

Thanks.

I'm working on learning this game. I picked up a copy complete with the 2016 stuff on eBay. Any hints for easing the learning curve? I am watching the calendale videos and enjoying them. I suspect this one will seem strange until I set up a short scenario and play it solitaire.

Hey George, I’m like you right now about to launch into it. In deciding to buy I did flick through the rules to get the general idea about what the game intended but the key for me was looking at the victory conditions laid out in the Player Aid.

From that I understood better what it wanted and it looks darned clever! Minus 3 points for refusing battle but big points for winning fights; foraging; variable points for different types of fortresses and towns.

So now I put on the hat of the conquerer and attrition giver as I go into the rules more seriously

Three advice:
1. Don`t fight, move!
2. Detach cavalry screen to slow the enemy.
3. Be ready that enemy can take any of your fortress - there are two special cards in the deck.
