For the Saxon Bot’s Raid + Surprise, does getting into a space with a higher difference in Population minus enemy Troops count as a “higher priority”?

For example, if by using a deep raid the Saxons can reach a space that has 2 Population and only 2 Troops, while all the coastal spaces are worse (2 pop with 3 Troops at best), would they use their Surprise for the deep raid?

Also, if the Saxons use their Surprise to target an enemy Stronghold, how could you decide which space to use the Surprise in? You do not even know if the Saxons will Assault in other spaces, because that is determined by how many Raiders they get on the dice rolls.

Only if the die roll in the 2nd bullet of 8.6.5 scores 1-4.

The Stronghold with the fewest units protecting it. If too few Raiders arrive in that space, the surprise is lost; that's why the rule uses the expression "in hopes of Assaulting it" - the Assault is not guaranteed to occur.

Thank you Oerjan, much appreciated to have one of the bot gurus tackling these answers better than I ever could :-)

Great, thank you. My first impressions of the bots (finishing out the sample game in the playbook) are really good. I like how the diamond -- decisions in the left-hand column -- are more numerous than previous bots, which feels more "organic" like a human player, but are individually still very simple to decide.
