If two players like Bryan and Remy have multiple “they also lose 2 fortitude” cards, can they just chip away at each other back and forth since they keep making each other lose fortitude? Seems a little excessive to me by if it’s ok, so be it.

Yes. In fact, attacking someone's fortitude is risky, so it's a good idea to do it with one of those in your hand, so at least you do more damage than you take.

Bryn in-fact has fewer avoid Fortitude loss cards because she has extra "hit-back" cards. The threat of retaliation is one of the key defensive aspects of a number of our more fighter-y characters. Of course, hording your hit-back cards only to lose all of your Gold because you can't draw into Gambling cards is part of the risk/reward math players need to do each time they Discard and Draw.
