I enjoy Saloon Tycoon and don't think the game is too long, BUT sometimes my gaming group only has an hour to play a game.

I'm wondering how I could shorten the game to play in under an hour for 4 people.

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

Start with less cubes in the supply:
- 10 less for a somewhat shorter game
- 20 less for a much shorter game

I haven't tried this, so I don't know if it would make certain private objectives too hard to achieve.

That would work, but my recommendation would be to start income higher. Maybe start at 2 and each tile is worth 2 income. Things will escalate quite quickly that way while still allowing for good sized saloons and keeping the objectives still attainable.

I agree on the income suggestion. That helps make sure you have the opportunity to build a structure of a satisfying size. Reducing the number of cubes also means smaller saloons and less opportunity for exciting scoring combos.

Side note: My gaming friends and I have played so many times that we typically finish a 4 player game in about 35-40 minutes. My wife and I can generally finish a 2 player game in about 20 minutes!
