new to the game, I thought I did pretty well before the boss battle, having succeeded in getting the trophy from most adventures (including quests where I also mostly got III rewards) and securing 5 lore tokens. I also had Stalwart skill and Black Iron Helm, bumping my HP to 14 and Marksmanship skill that deal 1 damage to Margath at the beginning of the combat. In terms of additional combat tokens I had cost 12 Lightning Rune (A07) and cost 5 Rune of Mana (F03).

I drew trickster for Margath and did miserably, mainly because of the 5HP healing from its 2-surges ability and it took me at least 2 rounds to even deal 5 damage to him anyway... repeated the combat 2 more times, and then switched to another combat board (Mystic) but also ended up having the same problem. I am not even close to defeating it.

any tips pls?

Interesting questions.

I bought this a while ago, and NEED to get it back to the table.

However, I can't help as the few times I played it, I had my rear end handed to me on a plate too, so I look forward to reading other user's comments.

The losses aside, the game is absolutely fantastic, and really immersive. I just enjoy so much romping around the world, completing quests, even if I ultimately don't win!

I played this last night with 3 people, and beat him easily - he didn't even leave Skydown.
It was our first game ever so maybe we did something wrong. As I understand it, you can spend an action for the party to engage in combat. Across 3 players that's 9 actions per round. About 3 were used for combat and the other 6 was to heal up between battles. We got lucky with margath only getting to heal twice all up, and never rolling wilds to move. in the end we took his 42(!) hp down in 3 rounds. We forgot to use any lore we acquired as well.

Maybe someone can clarify if we cheated somewhere?

With UB you have just ONE combat with Margath.
ALL heroes fight together, there are no retreats, no healing between battles.
If a hero dies, he dies and is out of the game. Other heroes continue the same battle until all die or someone kills the dragon
