Tall_Walt pointed out a method to use the "center" markup to add a captioon under a picture. The trick involves a couple of points.

!. Use a picture size that doesn't overflow the standard BGG window size. Thus the picture will have a constant width in the BGG borders for a post.

2. Specify a smaller font than the standard size so that the text stands out a bit.

3. Use the center tag around the image and caption.

4. Use the preview option to see where a good place would be to insert a <enter> character which forces a new line in the caption.

So the following markup (The {return} is an artifact...)

[ [ImageID=1502119 medium]
This displays text right underneath the image in a smaller font like a caption, and
{return}does not have text that spills over past the sides of the image.

Results in the following rendering:

This displays text right underneath the image in a smaller font like a caption, and
does not have text that spills over past the sides of the image.

You can also use the float tag set to keep the image on the left. The float sizes on the widest part - either the image or the text. So you may need to manually insert line breaks in the text.

This markup...

[floatleft][imageid=1969106 medium ]
Bidding in a five player game of Karesansui[/floatleft]

results in...

Bidding in a five player game of Karesansui
