Looking at my copy of The Next War, I’m wondering whether the new rules and tables will be backwards compatible. I.e. will it be possible to play the original game (map, counters, scenarios) with the new “engine” (rules, charts/tables)?

Reading the designer’s notes, I would be keen.

Never thought about that! it's probably possible from a strictly technical point of view, but the new charts and tables are balanced on the new values and could give strange results using "The Next War" counters.

Great, thanks. Something to try out with a small scenario then, perhaps.
