Lets think logically about the Roaming Monsters in Massive Darkness
( being retired allows me to do stuff like this). You have your intelligent weapon user
and demonic beings which countless Fantasy Lore establishes as Evil. So their right
at home with the Orcs/Goblins/Evil Dwarves/Troglodytes (these are the Factions I
use in my Games of MD) probably share the same mess hall and all that social
interaction.

But how about the basically animal types, the Giant Spider, Cockatrix, Nightmare
Thing & Hellipant ? I mean life must be tough their stuck in dungeons getting
a decent meal means coming across a lightbringer ( I know the Lightbringers
insists on going on Quests but still it's not the most reliable source of food).

Then again living right with these monsters is walking protein in the form
of Orcs/Goblins/Evil Dwarves/Troglodytes so logic would dictate that
a meal is a meal so why not snack on anything available.

Thus as a house rule I made the above 'animal" type monsters neutral
as follows:

These Monsters will attack Lightbringers or Darkness figs.
which ever is closest if both Light/Dark figs same distance roll
d6= Even= Lightbringer attacked/Odd=Darkness Fig Attacked.
These Monsters always Activate at end of Enemies Phase
If Darkness figs have choice to attack these Monsters or
Lightbringer Figs (they will move/attack Monsters)

Regular monster movement/LoS rules apply.

Sounds cool but it makes the game easier doesn't it? Maybe you should make them harder to compensate?

If we are basing it off logic, don't you think these creatures would prefer a relatively clean, nourished Lightbringer over some filthy goblin or orc they can eat all the time?

So far it's not been that much help to either side of course
if the monster goes for the evil minions it does make the Game
easier. It depends on the location of the monster vs the
Lightbringers & Minions as to which side it goes after.

I chose to make the Minions take the attack if all things are equal
but you could just as easily make it a roll off or have it
go for the Lightbringers.
