What books would you recommend to better enjoy and understand the themes behind this game? Thanks

This one might be a good choice:

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/291056.Oxygen

It starts in the events that happens in Bios: Genesis, and goes on through the events of Megafauna. Really interesting read!

Thanks!
It looks like a very interesting book. Never heard about this author before. His other book called "Power, Sex, Suicide - Mitochondria and the Meaning of Life" also looks like something that might be very interesting.
Merry Christmas!

The books referenced most often during the making of Bios:Megafauna were: "Extinction" by Erwin. "The Variety of Life" by Tudge. Special mention: "Dinosaurs, Spitfires, and Sea Dragons" by McGowan. I should mention "Earth" by Jonathan Lunine, because I helped write it. It's a textbook however.

I must also recommend Oxygen by Nick Lane. As much as I thought I knew about the subject I learned a lot more. Very eye opening. Haven’t read his other books yet but are looking forward to them.
