I was recently gifted a HUGE ziplock bag of this game for Christmas. This bag does not have rules, but i am sure i can locate those. My main question is how do i determine what i have? I don't know if i have boosters or expansions or just the base game. Is there a way i can separate these cards out? Keep in mind, i have never played, so i don't know what i am looking at. I really do want to play, but i feel i need to first figure out what i have before i can start playing.

As a CCG is has a base set, but not really a base game. There are the original starters, but that's not really the same thing. As for telling sets apart, the bottom right hand corner of each card should have a number, followed by a letter, followed be a number (i.e. 1 C 290) The first number is the set it came from. 1 for the original 'Fellowship of the Ring' set, all the way to 19 for Ages end. The letter is the rarity, and the second number is the card's number in the set. For instance, 1 C 290 is Frodo, Son of Drogo, who came in both original starter decks.
