Is it always 4 showing +1 for the encounter action?
When if ever does the # next to the icon come into play?

It feels like every "shop" ecounter is just 1 shop. Thats buy 1 OR sell 1.

Likewise, caps are so rare, its like you need to kill enemies and do ruins several times just to sell back the loot cards.

Why not:

Draw shop cards equal to the # shown and discard down to 4 after?
Earn caps for killing enemies, idk whats a good number. = to XP? Or XP - 1?

As far as im concerned the only thing that bothers me about this game is the shopping and cash issues...otherwise it's terrific!

The number by the icon is how many buy or sell transactions you get to do when it just says "shop" on the card.

Usually. Most settlement encounter cards put the settlement level as the number of shop action. However, there is at least one card that has a "Shop 1" result, which only gives you one shop action regardless of the settlement level.

Yes, when it says "shop once", do that. When it says "shop", you use the settlement level.

Re: Shopping and cash challenges
After 3 plays with both 2 and 3 player counts, here are some of our cash and shopping challenges and thoughts.

We have had very little caps available to us to shop, and we have had very few shopping actions available to us. This is dragging down the fun of the game in our opinion.

Option 1: Tonight we added a house rule of "When you take the Explore action, you get 1 cap". This added more money to the game and encouraged players to Explore more. In some games, we were waiting for the other players to Explore and then we would run in and fight the enemies or do Encounters. This did add money to the game, but not much. We are thinking of upping this to "2 caps per Explore" action. We still didn't have enough Shopping actions to spend our money.

Option 2: Next time we are going to use Option 1 with the "2 caps per Explore" action and add a "1 Shopping action to each Encounter". This may be too many Shopping actions, but we want to see some of this gear and feel like our players are getting some stuff. We have been subject to too many bad rolls, without much gear to help with re-rolls.

Hopefully this will work. Any thoughts from others are welcome.

I understand what you mean, my group has made a small change to how the shop works, we draw 2 new asset cards whilst shopping instead of 1 then discard down to 4 when finished. This makes more gear available more often. But we don't seem to have too much trouble with caps. I mean we are never rich but a few encounters and we usually have a few caps in our pocket (or items to sell at least).

I like the idea of adding 2 new Items into the shopping display. This will help us see more items and have more purchasing options. Good idea. Thanks for the input.
