For the last 2 hours BGG has been either working normally or working HORRIBLY SLOWLY (like an old 56k modem) or not working at all for me (you click on a link and wait forever, and nothing happens, not even an error message, just loading eternally until you close it).
I have no trouble with any other site, http://www.speedtest.net/ says everything is perfectly normal with my connection (20ms ping to the nearest server, 20/5 Mbps speed) and www.isitdownrightnow.com/boardgamegeek.com.html says BGG is not down. So what is up with it !? arrrh

The same thing happened to me several weeks ago. It just happened for one day, before getting back to normal, and I haven't had any trouble since then, including today. I have no idea, what caused the problem.

One thing that seems to be a problem is the particular server to which you get "assigned." It would seem that you'd need to working with the same server for somethings. So if that server goes wonky for whatever reason, then you're stuck.

Not sure how or why you'd get flipped to another.

As far as I know there is no way for a user to tell what server on the server farm he is using.

If it is anything like the grocery store cash register lines, I will always end up with the slowest.

The day after Christmas is the cause.

It's fun, it's healthy, it's good exercise. The kids will just love it. And we put a little sand inside to make the experience more pleasant.

You know, they say there was a man who jumped from the forty-FIFTH floor? But that's another story...

I know, eh?
Imagine staying home to play games and 'to internet' the day after Christmas.
Somebody should sort those people out--wait...

I'm also having this problem today. Sometimes it's just slow and I get some "connection timed out" messages, but sometimes the status bar gets stuck on "performing a TLS handshake" for up to a minute, and occasionally that fails and warns me that this suggests BGG isn't safe. I tried restarting Firefox Quantum (57.0.4 (64-bit)), and the first BGG page loaded fine, but then the problem came back. I was thinking I might have to create a new Firefox profile, but maybe it isn't me.

Edit: I just clicked on my subscription for 1000rpm's Polls Notification Thread - Just Subscribe!, and the first time it redirected me to the Chit Chat main forum, while the second try worked properly. Both times there may have been a slightly longer than normal delay, but nothing significant. So far other subscriptions have been going to the correct endpoint.
