In recent days TWO games about Finland at the end of WWI have surfaced on BGG:

All Bridges Burning: Red Revolt and White Guard in Finland, 1917-1918

1918: Brother Against Brother

Even taking the 1918-2018 centennial of these events into consideration, this is remarkable.

These are interesting times!

The first is a coin game I believe. The other also looks interesting but is point to point.

Given that Finland is widely recognized as the country with the most metal bands per square mile, someone should design a game around that. In the meantime, if you want to see a Christmas show as only the Finns could do it, check out: https://www.ruutu.fi/video/3150530

It definitely put me in the Christmas spirit...especially the polka lol \m/

These two games add to two other games on the Finnish Civil War of 1918:

Finnish Civil War

Under the North Star: The Finnish Civil War 1918

I suppose there should be at least five before this war can get its own Geeklist, so in the meantime:

Finland at war

Have you ever seen a Finnish death metal band? Pretty dark stuff!

Wintersun is my co-favorite band in the world, although they're melodic death, so not quite as dark as some other Finnish bands, especially the black metal ones.

Finland is indeed big on that scene; I think that only Norway is competing us on heavily. I guess that one could make a game out of that. Different paths to victory; you can try to make mainstream to understand your music and eventually win the Eurovision song contest (what I might call the historical outcome…)

Or you can try to become THE cult metal band that is revered by everyone in the scene while understood by no-one. And of course these goals would be mutually exclusive.

And it would have to involve being lost in the woods during a video shoot . (One of the first Finnish metal band jokes I ever heard.) And a sauna...have to have a sauna. Speaking of which, in case you know any of the backstory, and haven't seen it, this is hilarious:
