Recently I’ve been talking to some fellow board gamers about what they would like included in their game if it was part of a Kickstarter. Specifically we were talking about miniatures and game pieces, painted or not?...insert or not? Don’t care? Let me know through the poll.

Since we're talking about wargames, the insert would be the GMT counter trays. (Alternatively, you could use the Chessex counter trays, you heathen!)

Miniatures aren't really necessary and just serve to make the box more heavy. I prefer counters. If you want a miniatures-like look you can mount rectangular counters on a stand (e.g. Hannibal: Rome vs. Carthage (Valley Games Edition)).

Miniatures = turn off unless they are a 1:1 (1 mini = 1 unit) scale. And that they are in proportion to the size of the other minis. Minis in Memoir don't work because they aren't to scale, they move as a group, etc...

Too many games with needless minis these days.

In that case, offer them as optional add-ons. If you're going tom have miniatures, you have to have an insert. People love those things.

Ugh. Look for another game that doesn't have minis. There are so many better things to improve a game than using minis over counters/blocks.
