Great game, couldn't resist painting the figures. I went for a rapha stripe to easily identify sprinters.

Very nice.

I went for something much quicker and simpler:

I've done the Peleton riders with the same technique.

Leave the bodies of the riders and the bikes the colour of the plastic itself, and just throw on some paint on a few areas, like flesh, feet and casquettes.

For me, I thought that it was important to emphasise which rider was which, so as well as the S/R I painted a band round the bases that matches the colour of the different card backs.

I'm enjoying the holiday week off and inspired by the thread and especially Richard's photo, I took (stole) is paint scheme. ninja

I especially appreciate and liked the idea of matching the side of the bases to the cards!

Cheers,

Great stuff guys! I'd never painted miniatures before, but I thought it'd be a nice holiday activity, so took a stab. Did some research and looked at some other painted figures on the googles. Especially liked an idea I found, to give the sprinters different color hats making differentiation easier.

This is what I came up with! It makes playing the game that much more fun for me now laugh
I only wish I read about Richard’s idea for the base band colors beforehand - that’s clever for sure!

Years ago I used to love painting miniatures, but now my eyes are nowhere near as good as they used to be. Still this is my effort! Not great by any stretch of the imagination, but better than the bare plastic. Gone are the days when I spent an hour just on a figures eyes to make them alive.
I will be basing them with model folliage to make them more complete.

Awesome paint jobs everyone. Here are the results of my first attempts. I may have to revise the helmets to take advantage of the different colors for sprinter/roller, as when we play with my parents, they have a harder time telling the difference.

Sidenote: I decided to go for metal pieces I found online instead of the included figures. I love the look of the included ones, but I purchased the others so I could eventually have figures to swap in for various leaders jerseys.

You have to paint them yourself.

Painted these guys a while back. Lacking any other inspiration, I simply followed the colouring and patterns on the cyclist reference boards as closely as possible.

Hi, I know it's a silly question but, did you need to wash it with hot water before applying the primer? I feel that the minis a bit fragile to almost boil, perhaps they will be ruined if I do so.
Thanks for your time and attention.

It's a good idea to wash them first. A release agent is used in the molding process and that tends to be slippery. Giving the figures a bath with some dish detergent and water (you don't need a lot of detergent... pretend you're washing dishes) will a make sure the release agent is washed away.

It really depends on the figures. I sometimes forget to wash mine, and have never had any issues with paint sticking. But it's always a good idea. It takes very little time and costs no money. An ounce of prevention...

Thanks a lot Thom, I painted a couple times before but with bigger minis (??) And always put them on a pan with hot water and would use the water and detergent afterwards. Good to know I will only need to do the last step, I was afraid the minis wouldn't resist the heat.
